The body of a 70-year-old man has been pulled from the Swan River after he disappeared while crabbing.

The man was with family and friends in the Point Walter Reserve area in Bicton on Saturday night when the group decided to go their separate ways in the water, police said.

He was last seen by others in the group around 9:30pm and was reported missing about two hours later when his family and friends realised they could not see him.

Police in boats and a plane scoured the area, but failed to find any trace of him overnight.

Just after 6am, the man's body was found in the water opposite Blackall Reach Parade, south of the Blackwall Reach Cliffs.

His death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
