Man's body found near West Lothian primary school as forensics at the scene

The body of a man has been discovered in West Lothian during the early hours of this morning.

Police were called to an address on Whitedalehead Road, near Whitedale Primary School in Whitburn, Bathgate, at 6:55am.

The Daily Record report that forensic officers were pictured at the scene, which is also close to a block of flats on the West Lothian Road.

Officers confirmed that the death was sudden and that they are currently treating the incident as unexplained.

A cordon has been erected in the meantime as CID continue with the ongoing investigation.

Inquires to establish the full circumstances remain ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "At 6.55am on Thursday, March 17, police were called to the Whitedalehead Road area of Whitburn, following a report of the sudden death of a man.

"The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries into the circumstances remain ongoing."
