Man's body found in Scots flat fire with police treating death as suspicious

A man has died after a flat fire in West Dunbartonshire this morning, with police treating the death as suspicious.

Emergency crews were alerted to the blaze at a property in Tontine Park, Renton, at around 7.25am on Saturday March 25.

The body of a man was discovered inside the flat and police confirmed they have launched a probe into the incident.

Officers are treating the death as suspicious and will remain in the area to offer support to local residents.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Around 7.25am on Saturday, 25 March, 2023, police were made aware of a fire at a flat in Tontine Park in Renton. Emergency services attended and the body of a man was found within.

"Officers are treating the death as suspicious and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

"Additional officers will be in the area to provide reassurance to the local community. Anyone with concerns can approach these officers."

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were also approached for comment.
