The body of a man has been found in river in a Welsh town centre, police have confirmed. The discovery was made on Thursday in the River Rheidol in Aberystwyth, Ceredigion.

At around 12.30pm, the body of a man was found in the river, underneath Trefechan Bridge. Police are now investigating the death but don’t believe there are any suspicious circumstances. The man’s name and age have not been revealed at this time, but his family has been made aware.

A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “Police are investigating following the discovery of the body of a man in the river Rheidol, under Trefechan Bridge, in Aberystwyth at around 12.30pm on Thursday, June 16.
“Next of kin have been advised. Enquiries are ongoing however the death is not being treated as suspicious at this time.”
