Police have launched an investigation after a man’s body was found in Dundee at the weekend.
The grim discovery was made in Whitfield Loan early on Saturday morning.
Officers cordoned off a footpath behind Whitfield Parish Church after the alarm was raised at 6am.
Witnesses described seeing a police tent and forensic officers examining the scene through the day.
A Police Scotland spokesman told Dundee Live this morning that the death was currently being treated as ‘unexplained.’
Shocked residents in the area told the local Dundee Courier newspaper about the police activity.
One elderly woman said: “I haven’t stopped thinking about it.
“It was quite horrendous to see what was happening when I got up at around 8am.
“I haven’t stopped thinking about it, that poor man, my thoughts are with his loved ones at this time.
“The police sealed off an area just at the back of our houses.
“A hundred things start rushing through your mind when you see something like this.
“There was six police officers on the scene – I knew it was going to be bad.
“It’s still really shocking that someone has died, just heart breaking.”
While another added: “The tent was situated near the pylon at around 8am.
“There was a forensic officer in what I assume was a white hazmat suit taking pictures at the scene.
“You do fear the worst when you see situations like that on your doorstep.
“I’m saddened to hear someone has lost their life and my thoughts are with the man’s family at this time.
“The cordon appeared to all be removed by 10am.”
A Police spokeswoman said today: “Around 6.10am on Saturday, 26 March, 2022, police received a report a man’s body had been found in Whitfield Loan, Dundee.
“Officers attended and the death is currently being treated as unexplained.
“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
