Man's awkward plane dilemma as woman dangles hair over TV screen on 7-hour flight

A man was faced with an awkward dilemma after a fellow plane passenger dangled her long hair over his TV screen on the seven-hour flight.

Adam, 57, was flying to Montreal on Tuesday when he quickly realised his view of the inflight entertainment was obscured by the long curly strands.

The question of what he should do next has provoked dozens of responses and thousands of likes on Twitter, reports Wales Online.

Sympathetic Niamh Lewis wrote: "I feel for the girl, it's a struggle to have long, thick, curly hair in general, worse on a flight."

But her kindly comment was countered by fellow Twitter user Amanda Yeardsley, who said: "Are you kidding me? I have thick curly hair, wore it long for most of my life and have never felt the need or been rude and selfish enough to do this."

Jorge wrote: "This happened to me on a couple of flights. You could accidentally close the tray table on the hair. Always creates amusement when it's time to disembark."

Adam Butler described his shock at seeing the passenger's hair over his TV screen (Adam Butler / SWNS)

Similarly, user kleiner_Junge added: "Had this on a long-haul flight a few months back. Trapping it in the tray works well."

Other comments included "I’ve a bit of a phobia about other people's hair... I’d have to ask them to move it ," and "Tell Mick Hucknall to be more considerate to others."

Thankfully, the situation had a peaceful resolution after the fine art and architecture photographer politely pointed out the problem to the woman.

Adam, from London, said: "It was a flight from Montreal to London on November 22 with my wife, after a brief trip to see her parents in Canada.

"A girl with voluminous curly hair sat down in the seat directly in front of me. To make herself comfortable, she flicked her hair up, as she was settling into her seat.

"Perhaps she didn’t notice, but half of her hair ended up falling over the top of the chair, to cover much of my media screen on the back of her chair. She wasn’t overtly tall, her head was not above the top of her seat, but her hair was very, very long!

"I asked her politely if she could move her hair as it was covering my screen. She answered very politely and graciously and immediately did so, tying it in a big bun on top of her head.

"Luckily, it didn’t fall over again throughout the entire seven hour flight! I took the picture as it was so ridiculous that this should happen, as to be funny, and tweeted it before taking off.

"I was astonished at the huge number of likes, comments and re-tweets it had attracted by the time I switched on my phone the next morning upon touching down in London.

"Many others clearly found it ridiculous and funny too, with dozens offering suggestions of what I should do - which ranged from the funny to the outrageous."
