The incident happened when a 20-year-old man was approached by two other men on Garnet Street, near Sauchiehall Street, between 1.55am and 2.15am today.

Police say the men then proceeded to assault him.

The victim was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he is being treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries.

One of the two men is described as white, about 5ft 10in tall with short dark hair.

He was wearing dark clothing.

Officers say the attack was 'unprovoked' and are urging anyone who may have any information on what happened to get in touch.

Enquiries are also ongoing to establish the identities of the two men involved.

Detective Constable Larissa Cooper said: “This assault was entirely unprovoked and we are working to identify the other two men involved.
