Man rushed to hospital after shooting near Croydon's Whitgift Centre

A man has been rushed to hospital after being shot in Croydon.

Police were called to reports of a man being shot and a firearms discharge in Park Street near the Whitgift shopping centre.

The London Ambulance Service said they were called minutes later to a shooting on Croydon High Street.

Officers and paramedics rushed to the scene shortly before 7.40pm on Monday and provided first aid to the victim.

They were taken to hospital and police are waiting for an update on their condition.

No arrests have been made, the Met Police confirmed.

A crime scene is in place and detectives’ enquiries are ongoing.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 7.43pm on Monday 10 February to reports of a shooting on High Street, Croydon.

“We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car and a clinical team manager.

“We treated a man at the scene and took him to a major trauma centre as a priority.”
