Man rushed to hospital after multi-car crash sparks chaos on Clydeside Expressway

A man has been rushed to hospital following a multi-vehicle collision on the Clydeside Expressway in Glasgow.

The incident took place at around 8.15am on Saturday, December 17 when officers were called to reports of a smash having taken place on the A814 at the slip road for the Clyde Tunnel.

Emergency services, including Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance Services, sped to the crash site to help the victims, and a man was taken to hospital to receive treatment as a result, according to GlasgowLive.

The extent of his injuries, as well as his age and current condition, is not yet known. Footage taken at the scene, which was shared on social media, shows the dramatic aftermath of the accident.

Around six vehicles with their hazard lights on face in different directions and appear to struggle to move from their spot on the frozen-over road. A piece of debris lies on the ground in front of one motor.

The video gained traction from residents who cautioned drivers to avoid the area as the incident had allegedly taken place on an icy, untreated patch of road.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 8.15am to a report of a crash involving several vehicles on the A814 Clydeside Expressway at the slip road for the Clyde Tunnel.

“One man has been taken to hospital for treatment and recovery is being arranged.”
