Man rushed to hospital after crash in Aberdeen as road locked down

A man has been rushed to hospital after crashing on a road in Aberdeen.

The one-car smash took place shortly after 10am on Tuesday, November 29 on Gordon's Mill Road in the city. Emergency services swooped on the scene to assist the victim, who was taken to hospital as a result.

The driver's age, the extent of his injuries and his current condition remain unclear, however it is believed the vehicle may have ploughed into a lamp post, as damage to the structure was confirmed by cops.

A photo taken at the crash site, which was shared on social media, shows a blue-lit police vehicle blocking the road. Cones and signs have also been erected to prevent motorists from entering.

The junctions between Papermill Drive and Hayton Road were shut, too, as a result of the collision. It is understood traffic is now able to flow freely in the area.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 10.10am on 29 November to attend a road traffic collision on Gordon’s Mill Road, Aberdeen.

"We dispatched two ambulances and two special operation resource vehicles to the scene, and a male patient was transported to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson added: “Around 10.20am on Tuesday, 29 November, 2022, police were called to Gordon’s Mill Road at Diamond Bridge, in Aberdeen, following a report of a one-vehicle crash.

“The road is currently closed due to damage to a lamppost and emergency services remain at the scene.”
