A man has been rushed to hospital after Coastguard had to rescue a group of walkers in distress
Local Coastguard were called to Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh, to help rescue a number of walkers in an ongoing incident.
Emergency services are currently in attendance at the popular beauty spot as images have been seen on social media that show people in distress in the midst of being rescued, Edinburgh Live reported.
Shortly before 5pm today, multiple helicopters could be heard as coastguards attended to the second similar incident in a matter of weeks.
Reports from a witness in the area claimed that those in attendance appeared to be rescuing a number of people who had fallen whilst trying to walk up a steep hill.
The Coastguard also confirmed that one man was winched from the area and immediately taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
Social media users tweeted about the ongoing incident, and one said: "Serious helicopter activity around Arthur's Seat again. It's not landing, so they must be searching for someone or something."
Another added: "See another rescue helicopter circling Holyrood/Arthur's Seat/ That is the second one in two weeks. Hope it's not drunk people falling over, I have seen that happen."
A spokesperson from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said: "The Coastguard helicopter from Prestwick has been assisting the Scottish Ambulance Service and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service with an incident on Arthur’s Seat.
"I can confirm that the helicopter winched one man from the hill and transported him to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary."
