Man rushed to hospital after car crashes into trees on A725

A man has been rushed to hospital after a horror crash along the A725.

Emergency services scrambled to the scene westbound near the High Blantyre Junction at 9.40am today. Medics attended and rushed the 24-year-old driver to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment.

His current condition is unknown. Video footage from the incident shows the man's car launched sideways off the road and facing the opposite direction as a recovery workers deal with the smashed vehicle.

Moments later, a 999 response rushed to a separate crash involving a car and HGV lorry on the eastbound carriageway.

There were no reported injuries. The roads fully reopened at 12.30pm.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police were called to a report of a one-car crash on the A725 westbound near the High Blantyre junction at around 9.40am on Sunday, July 31. Emergency services attended and a 27-year-old man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment.

“A separate crash involving a car and an HGV occurred shortly after on the eastbound carriageway. There were no reports of any injuries.

“The eastbound carriageway was fully re-opened at around 11.55am and the westbound carriageway re-opened around 12.30pm.”
