Man rushed to hospital after being slashed by Lime Street station

A man has been rushed to hospital following an assault in the city centre this evening.

Emergency services were called to outside Lime Street station at around 7.45pm following reports a man in his 40s had been assaulted by another man and suffered a slash wound to his arm. Merseyside Police confirmed the man has been taken to hospital for treatment for his injury which is not believed to be life threatening.

A spokesperson added: "The offender made off in the direction of Hanover Street. An investigation is underway and witness and CCTV enquiries are being carried out in the local area."
