A man has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a car on a major Ayrshire road last night.
The 45-year-old was struck by a grey Toyota Auris on the A71 eastbound between Warrix Intercharge and Corsehill Mount roundabout at around 10.35pm yesterday evening.
Emergency services, including police and an ambulance raced to the Irvine road and the pedestrian was taken to Crosshouse Hospital. Medics there describe his condition as stable.
Sergeant Gordon Stewart from the Road Policing Unit at Irvine said: “Enquiries are ongoing into the cause of the crash and I would appeal to any witnesses, or anyone with information that may assist us, to make contact. I am also keen to obtain any dashcam from motorists driving on the road around the time of the crash.
“Anyone with information should contact 101 quoting reference number 4098 of 19 April.”
