A man has been taken to hospital after he was assaulted during a carjacking in Tameside. Police were called to Mottram Road in Hyde this morning (March 24) just before 11.25am to reports of a disturbance.

Officers were deployed to the scene and established a motorcyclist was attacked before his motorbike was stolen. He was taken to hospital via ambulance.

No further details about his condition or nature of the attack have been released by police at this stage. No arrests have been made and GMP said enquiries are ongoing.

Eye witnesses described seeing a large police presence in the area and the road cordoned off morning. It is understood the road reopened at around 12.30pm.

One woman, who asked to remain anonymous, said a man in his 40s had been attacked with a crowbar, but this has not been formally confirmed by Greater Manchester Police.
