A man carried out an 18 hour protest on the roof of a shopping centre only coming down this morning.
Police were initially called to reports of a concern for the safety of a man at the Concourse shopping centre, in Skelmersdale, at 1.30pm on Tuesday, June 13. At the scene, they found a man had climbed into the roof space and had put up banners.
A cordon was put in place around the shopping centre meaning a number of businesses were closed. Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and the North West Ambulance Service are also at the scene on standby.
Officers have now confirmed that the man came down safely, at around 7.30am today. He has been detained under the Mental Health Act.

He had four white banners with him which read “Free Mally Jnr” and “Justice for Junior”. Police negotiators were inside the building and actively trying to resolve the incident with him throughout his time protesting.
He was also seen waving at people on the roadside and giving a thumbs up to children who waved at him from the cordon. A spokesperson for Lancashire police said: "We were called at 1.29pm yesterday (Tuesday, June 13th) to the Concourse, Skelmersdale, to a report of a concern for safety.
"Officers attended and found a man protesting on scaffolding on the building. A cordon was put in place. The man came down safely at around 7.30am today (Wednesday) and has since been detained under the Mental Health Act."
