Man puts 'genius' spin on roast dinner but people say it’s a 'war crime'

If there's one thing that should never be messed with, it's a Sunday roast.

But one man has divided opinions online with his interesting spin on the British classic.

Typically, meat and vegetables are laid out on a plate accompanied by a Yorkshire or two, but Oli Paterson, from Greater Manchester, decided it would be a much better idea to serve his roast inside a giant Yorkshire pudding.

"Why serve your roast dinner on a plate when you can serve it inside a Yorkshire pudding?" the 24-year-old asked, according to Daily Star.

Oli shared a video of his foodie creation on his Instagram, which sees him searing a piece of lamb in a frying pan.

He then adds carrots, parsnip, asparagus, spuds and half an onion and lets them sizzle away in some oil.

After whipping up a Yorkshire pudding batter, which consists of eggs, flour and milk, he pours it straight into the pan around the main ingredients.

Then it's time to put it into the oven to bake.

When he takes it out, the Yorkshire pud has tripled in size and is golden in colour.

He completes the dish with a generous helping of gravy. Then it's ready to eat.

People were quick to share their thoughts on the dish, with some saying it was "genius" and others saying it's the "best thing" they've ever seen.

One person said: "The most genius thing I’ve seen in a long time."

Another tagged their friend, and asked: "Why have we never thought of this?!"

A third commented: "Mad roast in the hole."

But others weren't so sure...

"I can't tell if this is genius or a war crime," said one viewer.

While someone else bluntly put: "That ain’t right."

And another person commented: "It's got to be a joke."

This isn't the first unusual recipe Oli has made though.

He's previously shared how he made a cheeseburger pizza, carbonara spring rolls and an interesting take on a pepperoni pizza beef wellington.
