Man pronounced dead after falling from Dean Bridge in Edinburgh

A man has died after falling from Dean Bridge in Edinburgh on Monday afternoon.

Emergency services rushed to the scene near the city centre around 1.40pm to reports a man had fallen from the bridge.

Sadly, the 58-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

As reported in Edinburgh Live, the bridge was temporarily closed to two-way traffic, with the pavement either side also taped off. Several Lothian Bus services were also diverted away from the scene before it re-opened less than an hour later.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.40pm on Monday, 6 February, police were called to a report that a man had fallen from Dean Bridge, Edinburgh.

“The 58-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
