A man who popped to the shops during half-time of a football match was left staggered after winning $100,000 (£80,660) on a scratchcard.
Lyncurgus 'Curt' Williams of New Bern, North Carolina, US, was watching the Pittsburgh Steelers game on Sunday December 11 when he decided to visit a nearby store for some refreshments.
After filling his basket with some goodies for the second half, his eye was drawn to the last $30 (£24) Fabulous Fortune scratchcard.
He purchased the lottery ticket and was left stunned when he won the jackpot of $100,000.
The North Carolina Education Lottery issued a statement saying: "At halftime of the Pittsburgh Steelers game Sunday, Lycurgus Williams of New Bern decided he needed some sides for a game day meal so he stopped at the store, bought a scratch-off ticket, and scored a $100,000 lottery prize."
Mr Williams said he decided to scratch off the ticket instore rather than wait to bring it home as he revealed: "I scratched it off right in the store. I was ecstatic."
The North Carolina Education Lottery said: "Williams said he only stopped at the Harris Teeter on MLK Boulevard in New Bern to pick up sides. Then he noticed only one $30 (£24.20) Fabulous Fortune ticket for sale so he bought it."
Mr Williams was so thrilled with his huge win he left the goodies he was originally aiming to buy in the shop, he said: "I was so excited I didn’t even get my sides."
Lottery officials confirmed the lucky lottery winner went to the headquarters on Tuesday and picked up his prize.
In a statement, they said: "Williams collected his prize at lottery headquarters Tuesday and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $71,019 [£57,305]."
Mr Williams has revealed he will use the money to decorate and refurbish his home, which he hasn't been able to do for a long time.
He said: "Now I can remodel my house. I’ve been wanting to do that for a very long time."
The huge win comes just days after Patrick Daniels, from Tryon in Polk County, North Carolina, US, told his wife he would win the lottery - and he was right.
He purchased a $1 (£0.80) Quick Pick Cash 5 lottery ticket on the evening of 7 December scooping a whopping $100,000.
In a statement, he said: "I told her, 'Tonight I'm going to win the lottery.'
"And then bam, I wake up this morning and I won. It's incredible."
