Eliza Fletcher, a 34-year-old mother of two young boys and a kindergarten teacher at St. Mary’s Episcopal School, disappeared during an early morning jog in September 2022. Her body was later discovered in South Memphis after a widespread search.
Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy expressed that the guilty plea brings finality for the family and the community, ensuring that Abston will never walk the streets again. Abston's trial was set to begin in February, but he waived his right to appeal.
