Man overwhelmed by responses after issuing 'ten second' request

A man was overwhelmed with responses after issuing a ten second request.

Steve Jackson had already gone ' viral' in the local community after the Australian asked residents of St Helens what they recommended he does while over in the town on a trip from down under. Steve said he was last in St Helens in 2019 and his parents emigrated from the town to Australia in the 1960s.

The dad recently issued the town a new question- posting in a local Facebook group and receiving over 500 comments. He said: "You have ten seconds, after reading this, to tell me something you love about St Helens!"

As well as some tongue-in-cheek comments suggesting the best thing about the area is the 'bus out of the town', Steve received hundreds of comments praising the community and what makes St Helens great. Many were quick to share what they truly love about the town.

One comment said: " [It is a] Proper old school working class town with salt of the earth people."

While another added: "For me it is our accent. You can really tell a St Helens twang no matter where you are."

One person shared a heart warming story of how the town rallied around them after a family tragedy, they said: "When we lost our daughter the people who stepped up, mostly from St Helens, raised a massive amount of money for an amazing cause. I love the people of this town. We might not be blessed with a few bob but when it's needed we find it"

One man from Scotland even shared his love for the town and its historic rugby team, Saints, he said: "Every one of you. Huge Saints fan from Dundee. Never had a bad time with you lot, love you all. COYS."
