A man on a stag do in Cardiff was taken to hospital after jumping into the River Taff, prompting a huge emergency service response.
Police, fire crews and paramedics were all involved in the dramatic rescue on Friday, April 21 which saw officers carry out a search from the riverbank before helping pull the 30-year-old to safety.
South Wales Police responded to reports of a man in the river at around 11.30pm, with officers searching both sides of the river before spotting the man and hearing him shouting for help.
After seeing him, two officers then climbed over a wall and onto the riverbank, talking to him and directing him to an area where he could be rescued.
The two officers threw the man a rescue line and kept him calm until the fire service arrived and helped to get him out of the water.
He was then treated by paramedics and taken to hospital as a precaution, before being discharged.
After being rescued, the man confirmed that he had been out in Cardiff on a stag do and had jumped into the river, reports WalesOnline.
A huge emergency service response had been seen near the river on Friday night, with police, firefighters and ambulances all seen parked in the car park on the former site of the Sytner BMW showroom.
A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: "At around 11.30pm on Friday, officers responded to a call of a male in the water, an area search has been carried out along both sides of the river and the male could be seen and heard shouting from the Taffs Mead Embankment side of the river, opposite the storage facility.
"Officers went over the bridge and into the car park, where PC Stapleton and PC Union climbed the wall and walked along until they located the male, they have talked to him and got him to pull himself down the riverbank on the weeds to an area where fire and police could easily see him.
"PC Stapleton has thrown the rescue throw line to the male from behind the wall which he has caught, he was engaging with PC Stapleton who was keeping him calm until the fire service arrived."
The spokesperson added: "Firefighters assisted in the rescue and the 30-year-old man was treated by paramedics. The man confirmed he was in Cardiff on a stag do and had jumped into the river.
"He was taken to hospital as a precaution, but later discharged."
