Man on scrambler bike rushed to hospital after 'serious' crash

A man riding a scrambler bike was rushed to hospital after a "serious" crash on a busy Liverpool road.

Merseyside Police rushed to Walton Road, near the junction of Bradewell Street, at around 5pm on Monday, October 10, following reports of a crash. Once at the scene officers found a black Vauxhall Insignia and a scrambler bike had crashed.

Police requested assistance from Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and the North West Ambulance Service. Once they arrived, the man riding the scrambler bike was rushed to hospital for treatment. The condition of the man is not yet known.

The driver of the Vauxhall stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries. Emergency services remain on Walton Road, which is closed in both directions, while the vehicles are recovered.

Both vehicles sustained serious damage, with the bike being left lying in the middle of the road and the Vauxhall Insignia having a hole in the passenger side of the windscreen and damage to the drivers side bumper and bonnet.

A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said: "At around 5pm this evening officers were called to a report of a collision involving a motorcycle and black Vauxhall Insignia on Walton Road. The male motorcyclist was taken to hospital for treatment.

"The driver of the Vauxhall Insignia remained at the scene. County Road onto Spellow Lane is closed whilst emergency services remain in the area."

Arriva and Stagecoach buses are diverting away from the area and have warned services could be delayed following the crash.
