Man matching description of Evan Reid is 'not missing person' as desperate search continues

Police have confirmed that a man matching the description of Evan Reid is not the missing dad who has not been seen for nearly a week.

An urgent search was launched for the 31-year-old after he was last seen getting off a train in Paisley after a night out in Glasgow on Saturday, March 25. He was last seen in the Inchinnan Road area at around 10.06pm.

Evan was travelling home to Irvine when he appeared agitated and disembarked at Paisley Gilmour Street Station and CCTV images were earlier released.

Police Scotland has now confirmed after receiving "several calls" of a man matching the description of Evan is not him.

A statement from the force reads: "We have received several calls regarding a male matching the description of Missing Person Evan Reid walking on the A737 between Howwood and Lochwinnoch around 7am on Sunday, 26 March 2023.

"Officers traced the male who was on the A737 and we can confirm this was not the missing person. We would like to thank the members of the public who called in to report this sighting."

Evan's partner Nicole Murray, who shares a three-year old daughter with him, previously said he texted her that "something dodgy was happening" shortly before he went missing.

She said: "He was in Glasgow on a night out. He text me to say he was getting the train home.

"He said to me [in a text] there was something happening, something dodgy was happening. I didn't know then that he was on the train already.

"We are waiting on CCTV from inside the train to see if that shows anything."

Evan is described as being around 5ft 8in in height and of slim build. When last seen he was wearing a khaki green jumper, a black body warmer, dark blue jeans and grey trainers.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 4112 of Saturday, 25 March, 2023.
