Man made murder threat at Perth fast food restaurant

A 32-year-old man threatened to kill a fast food worker when he was told he would not be able to order a meal.

Ray Sean Stevenson uttered the threat at McDonald’s on Dunkeld Road when he was told it was closed to customers one night in October last year.

A short time earlier that evening Stevenson also kicked off at Asda, across the road from the restaurant.

Fiscal depute Elizabeth Hodgson told Perth Sheriff Court last week: “Staff observed the accused at one of the machines. A staff member approached to provide assistance as he appeared to be having difficulty.

“However the accused began making nasty comments about the staff member’s appearance.

“The member of staff alerted a security guard to come and help. As the guard approached the accused began to shout and swear.”

Ms Hodgson said Stevenson went on to threaten the staff member with violence then left.

She added a little while later Stevenson went into McDonald’s and when a member of staff told him the restaurant was open for deliveries only he threatened to murder him.

“The accused became aggressive towards the complainer, saying ‘I’m going to kill you’. He has then left the locus,” she said.

Stevenson, of Nimmo Avenue, Perth, admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner towards an Asda store worker on October 5 last year by repeatedly shouting, swearing, adopting an aggressive demeanour and uttering threats of violence towards him.

He further admitted doing the same to a member of staff at McDonald’s later the same evening.

Sheriff Euan Duthie sentenced Stevenson to complete 66 hours of unpaid work within 12 months, reduced from 99 hours for pleading guilty at an early stage.
