Police are hunting for a suspect after a man was left with 'life-changing injuries' when he was knocked down by a car in Stockport.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the incident on Brinnington Road, near the junction with Yates Street, last night (Monday). Police were called to 'reports of concern for the welfare of a man'.
It is believed that at around 8.20pm, he was struck by a car. He was rushed to hospital from the scene while a cordon was put in place on the street.

One man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of going equipped to commit robbery, police said. Another man is believed to have fled the scene in a car.
Police are now trying to track down this suspect. A car - which matched the description of the one that fled the scene - has been seized.
Detectives said they believe the incident was 'isolated'. Shocked residents said they were locked inside their homes for several hours this morning following the incident.
A man who lives on the street - but who did not want to be named - said he woke to find the street taped off at around 5:15am this morning. He said his partner was allowed to out of the property to go work at 6am, but when he asked to be able to leave around 6:45am he was told he couldn’t and was stuck inside with one of his children until the cordon was removed almost five hours later.
He said he wasn’t given any information about what had happened but that an officer asked him to check the CCTV cameras on his property between 8pm and 9pm last night for ‘any black or grey cars or any suspicious activity on the road.’ He said he was also asked if he had seen any ‘activity’ at a specific property on the street over the past few weeks.
The man said that over the past few months there has been repeated police attendance on the road though he is unsure if any of those incident were linked to yesterday’s incident. He described the situation as ‘quite shocking’ and ‘concerning’.
Another neighbour said a forensic crime scene investigation (CSI) officer began combing the area immediately outside her home after blood was found on her garden wall. "They found a stone in the garden and blood down the wall", she said.
"They didn’t tell us what happened, who was involved, how badly injured they were or anything. They just told us to stay inside.
"It was only when they re-opened the road about half 11 they said we could go out again. It was obviously quite confusing but also concerning and very worrying. Especially when it’s literally on your doorstep."
Yellow evidence markers were placed around the area with the forensics officer also taking numerous photographs. A couple who live on the street said they were also told they couldn’t leave their property early this morning.
"I went to go the gym at around 6:50am and the policeman said I couldn’t go out", the woman said. "But when we asked him he said he didn’t know what was going on or what had happened."
The man said: "Luckily I was working from home today but I’m glad we can go out now. We just wanted to know what had happened. My partner goes for walks late at night and I need to know it’s safe."
A mother who lives on neighbouring Yates Street said she heard someone ‘trying her door’ last night and had reported it to officers in case it was relevant to their enquiries. "I heard something at about 10:15pm, like a loud bang", she said.
"I went over and told the police this morning and they gave me the crime reference number for the incident and told me to ring 101 and tell them. But other than that I didn’t hear anything and it wasn’t until I saw it online this morning that I realised.
"There’s been lots of rumours. It is very worrying. I have got a little girl.
"Someone was only saying yesterday what a nice area this is to live in as its so quiet. I’ve lived here for three years and it is but I think this has shaken everybody up.”
The road was re-opened to traffic at around 11:30am with a small cordon remaining in place outside three properties on the street. The cordon was then removed entirely around an hour later.
Any witnesses are being urged to come forward. Police also want to speak to anyone with CCTV or footage of the incident.
