Man left with facial injuries after gang attack near Monkseaton Metro Station

A man was been left with facial injuries following an attack near Monkseaton Metro Station in the Whitley Bay area on Wednesday evening.

The attack happened just outside the Metro station on Norham Road just before 6pm. Police received a report that a man had been assaulted by a group of unknown offenders who then fled the scene.

The victim suffered minor injuries to his face but left the scene before officers could speak to him. The victim has not contacted the police but an investigation is now underway to trace both the perpetrators and the victim.

Anyone with any information regarding the incident is urged to come forward.

Monkseaton Metro Station at 7.40am (Newcastle Chronicle)

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly before 6pm yesterday (Wednesday) police received a third-party report of an assault near to Monkseaton Metro Station on Norham Road.

“It was reported that a man had been assaulted by a group of unknown offenders, who then made off from the scene. It is understood that the victim suffered minor injuries to his face. The victim has then left the scene before officers could speak to him and he has not yet contacted police.

“Enquiries are ongoing to locate those involved including the victim. Anyone with information is asked to contact police via the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of our website or by calling 101 quoting reference NP-20220518-0910.”
