A man was left unconscious in the road after being hit by a car.
Police responded to a call on Tuesday, July 12 at around 10.40pm to reports there was an unconscious man in the Bridgefoot area of Warrington. When officers attended the scene they found the man had been involved in a crash with a black Toyota Prius.
The man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries where he remains. Police said the "swift response" by officers ensured "significant amount of first aid was provided by our officers who then assisted paramedics in treating them prior to being taken to hospital."

After a number of enquiries, the driver of the Toyota has been since arrested on suspicion of failing to stop following a collision and dangerous driving. The 49-year-old man from Bolton remains in custody at this time, police said.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: "At around 10.40pm on Tuesday, July 12, police responded to a report of an unconscious man in the Bridgefoot area of Warrington. Officers attended and found that the man had been involved in a crash with a black Toyota Prius.
"The man sustained serious injuries and was subsequently taken to hospital. The driver of the Toyota has been since arrested on suspicion of failing to stop following a collision and dangerous driving.
"The 49-year-old man from Bolton remains in custody at this time. Enquiries in relation to this incident are underway and pending further investigation."
