A man was left unconscious in the road after being hit by a car.

Police responded to a call on Tuesday, July 12 at around 10.40pm to reports there was an unconscious man in the Bridgefoot area of Warrington. When officers attended the scene they found the man had been involved in a crash with a black Toyota Prius.

The man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries where he remains. Police said the "swift response" by officers ensured "significant amount of first aid was provided by our officers who then assisted paramedics in treating them prior to being taken to hospital."
