A man has been left fighting for his life after being stabbed in Whitefield.
Emergency services were scrambled to Harlech Avenue at around 5pm on Tuesday (November 22) to reports of a 'disturbance'. A man was found at the scene with stab wounds, police said.
He was rushed to hospital by paramedics. His injuries are believed to be life-threatening, police added.
An investigation was launched following the incident. On Tuesday evening, a stretch of the street was cordoned off by officers.
Police remained at the scene for a number of hours, until around 8.30pm. One local resident said he returned home from work to see a man had been injured.
He said his son had heard 'shouting' at around 5pm. He told the Manchester Evening News : "He had his hand pressed on his neck and it looked like it was bleeding.
"I heard the police tell him to keep his hand pressed on it until they got something to put on the wound. There was a lady on the phone too, she looked really shaken up."
He added: "A man up the road had someone break into his house and try and steal his car the other day, and the other night the police helicopter was out and a car was speeding up and down these roads. I have no idea what's going on at the minute.
"Me and some of my neighbours are talking about getting CCTV cameras outside our house so we can see what is going on at all times."
In a statement, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "At around 5pm on Tuesday 22 November 2022, GMP were called to reports of a disturbance at Harlech Avenue, Whitefield. Officers have attended the scene and a man was found with injuries consistent with a bladed article.
