Man knocked off motorbike by 'drug driver' in 'serious' condition

A motorbike rider who was knocked off his bike on a main road remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital.

Arrowe Park Road in Upton, Wirral, was closed on Monday after police were called to the scene of a crash at around 3.30pm. The crash involved a white motorcycle and a blue Volkswagen Polo.

The rider of the motorbike - a man in his 60s - was treated at the scene by paramedics before he was taken to hospital with head injuries. He remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition, police said.

A 33-year-old woman, from Ellesmere Port, who was driving the Volkswagen Polo was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drug driving. Merseyside Police today confirmed the woman who was arrested has now been released under investigation.

A police cordon was put in place on Arrowe Park Road on Monday while emergency services worked at the scene. Pictures from the scene show officers investigating, while the car sustained damage to its left-hand side.
