Man killed in industrial accident at Scots business park as probe launched

A man has been killed in a horror industrial accident at a business park in West Lothian.

Emergency services raced to Tradstocks Westwood in Five Sisters Business Park, West Calder, after the alarm was raised at around 9.10am on Friday.

Ambulance crews attended but a 39-year-old was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been made aware.

Fire crews also attended. They left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe shortly after 12pm.

The company are a supplier of natural stone. Officers have informed the Health and Safety Executive and their enquiries into the incident remain ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.10am on Friday, March 17, we received a report of an industrial accident at Five Sisters Business Park, West Calder.

“Emergencies services attended but a 39-year-old man died at the scene. His next of kin have been made aware. The Health and Safety Executive have been made aware and enquiries are ongoing.”

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called to assist an emergency service partner at an industrial estate in West Calder, West Lothian at 9.19am on Friday, March 17.

“Operations Control mobilised two appliances and special resources. Crews left the scene at 12.07pm after ensuring the area was made safe.”
