Man killed in fatal Runcorn expressway crash that closed major road

A man has died in a fatal car crash in Runcorn on Saturday morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene which happened on the Southern Expressway at 9.37am.

Only one car was involved and a 22-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation is underway, said Cheshire Police.

The Southern Expressway was closed off for most of the morning.

Onlookers said the North West Air Ambulance was dispatched to the incident.
