Man killed and three others taken to hospital after crash

A man has died after a crash near Ruthin. Emergency services attended a two-vehicle crash on the A525 at Rhewl involving a Yamaha motorcycle and an Audi Q3 on Sunday, July 10. Sadly despite the best efforts of the emergency services the motorcyclist died at the scene.

The three people who were in the Audi - a man, woman and a child - were taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd by ambulance with what was believed to be minor injuries.

Police say the motorcyclist was travelling in a convoy and is appealing for anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

A North Wales Police statement said: "We're appealing for witnesses and information following a fatal road traffic collision near Ruthin yesterday Sunday, July 9.

"Shortly before midday North Wales Police received a report of a two-vehicle collision on the A525 at Rhewl involving a Yamaha motorcycle and an Audi Q3.

"The emergency services attended, however, despite their best efforts, the male motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Three occupants from the Audi – a man, woman and child were taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd by ambulance with what was believed to be minor injuries."

Senior Investigating officer, Sergeant Emlyn Hughes, of the Roads Policing Unit is appealing for witnesses to come forward. He added: “Sadly we are investigating yet another fatal road traffic collision on the roads of North Wales and our profound sympathies are with the motorcyclist’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“The motorcyclist was travelling in convoy with a group of other riders, and we are urging anybody who may have been travelling in the area and who may have dash cam footage to contact us as soon as possible.

“I’d also like to thank the local community and motoring public for their patience and understanding whilst the road was closed to allow the Forensic Collision Investigation Unit to carry out their initial investigation.”
