Man kicked cars in Asda car park rampage

A vandal who went on a spree of kicking cars at a supermarket car park has been jailed for six months.

Rezai Haedar, 37, of Market Street, Widnes, appeared at North Cheshire Magistrates’ Court in Warrington last Friday where he pleaded guilty to damaging five cars in one incident and a sixth vehicle in another, having a knife in public, and theft. Haedar went on his rampage on Monday, August 29, when he was seen kicking cars at Asda on Milton Road in Widnes.

According to court documents the five cars damaged were two Nissan Jukes, a Citroen C4, a Vauxhall Zafira and a Nissan Note. Haedar also admitted damaging a Nissan Qashqai in Widnes on October 11.

The theft related to stealing food from Asda on October 15, when he was also found in possession of a bread knife in public, resulting in guilty pleas two days later.

Haedar was jailed for six months and ordered to pay compensation to the car owners.

Court papers said Haedar had to be sent to prison because he “has a flagrant disregard for people and their property”, was uncooperative with probation, due to his "immigration status" although no further details were provided, has a record of offending, and was caught with a knife.

A forfeiture and destruction order was made for the blade.

Following the sentencing hearing, a Cheshire Police spokeswoman said: “At around 9.50am on Monday, August 29, police were called following reports of criminal damage in Widnes.

“It was reported that Rezai Haedar was witnessed kicking a number of vehicles in the Asda car park on Widnes Road.

“Officers attended and Haedar was arrested and subsequently charged with criminal damage.”
