Man jailed for battering partner in drunken rage wanted on recall to prison

A man who was previously jailed for assault is now wanted on recall to prison.

James McIver, was jailed back in December 2018 to four years and two months in prison, after pleading guilty to to assault causing actual bodily harm and inflicting grievous bodily harm.

Liverpool Crown Court heard back in 2018, the 42-year-old tried to strangle his partner in a drunken rage at a hotel, before repeatedly stamping on her head in another sickening attack a month later.

He had also attacked her on numerous occasions previously to this incident, the court heard.

Now, police in Widnes are trying to locate McIver who was wanted on recall to prison

The 42-year-old lives in Merseyside and has links to Cronton, Speke and Widnes.

McIver is described as white, around 5ft 7in tall and of a medium build.

He also has light brown greying hair and brown eyes.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: "Police in Widnes are appealing to the public to help locate a man wanted on recall to prison.

"John McIver resides in Merseyside and has links to Cronton, Speke and Widnes.

"The 42-year-old is described as white, around 5ft 7in tall and of a medium build. He has light brown greying hair and brown eyes."

Anyone who sees McIver or has information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact Cheshire Constabulary online quoting IML 1112558.

Alternatively information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
