A man has been jailed after cops seized £300,000 worth of Class A drugs and cash in what has been dubbed as the "most significant ever UK operation into serious and organised crime".
Anthony Haggarty has been caged for four years and six months after admitting involvement in the supply of drugs, including heroin and cocaine.
The 43-year-old was arrested after a day of activity targeting a number of addresses in Glasgow in May 2020.
Haggarty was jailed today after he pleaded guilty at the High Court in Glasgow in February.
Intelligence about Haggarty’s activity had been obtained during 'Operation Venetic'.
Cops say this is regarded as 'the most significant ever operation into serious and organised crime involving Police Scotland, the National Crime Agency and police forces across the UK'.
Detective Chief Superintendent Stuart Houston said: “This seizure undoubtedly caused significant disruption to the local supply chain, of which Haggarty was a significant figure.
“Police Scotland will not allow criminals and organised crime groups to profit from other people’s misery and this case is a good example of how we utilise our resources along with the expertise of partner agencies to disrupt this kind of activity.
“We know that individuals and communities are deeply affected by the drugs trade and do not tolerate the harm it brings..
