Man jailed after dozens of burglaries in month long rampage

A man was jailed after committing 30 burglaries, attempted burglaries, and thefts in the space of a month.

Callum Boscoe, 25, of no fixed address, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday, January 6, charged with more than 30 offences, including burglaries, attempted burglaries and thefts. His offences took place between August 16 and September 21 when he was finally arrested by officers.

On some nights he would target up to three shops, restaurants, pubs or hotels in the same area. Some of the venues included Kelly’s Discount Booze in Birkenhead, PSV Food and Wine in Tranmere, Queen’s Hotel in Birkenhead, Sheridan’s Butchers in Birkenhead, Queen’s Wine Bar in Liverpool and Moose Coffee in Liverpool.

Boscoe was jailed for four years in Liverpool Crown Court on Friday, January 4.

Detective Constable Andy Uren welcomed the sentence and said: “It is pleasing that this individual has been brought to justice. His actions would have caused distress and harm to many local business owners in Wirral and Liverpool.

“Business burglaries such as these are not victimless crimes – they have a huge impact on the hardworking people who are just trying to earn a living in the heart of our communities. Key to these successes can often be information from those communities targeted, so I would continue to ask people to report anything suspicious, and come forward with any information you may have seen or heard.

"Many burglaries are still preventable as offenders are often opportunistic. Lock your front and back door even when you are in, set your burglar alarm when you go out or go to be and consider getting CCTV.”
