Man injured at busy Cardiff road where residents have been calling for crossing

A man has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car.

South Wales Police said officers attended reports of a road traffic collision on Colchester Avenue, in the Penylan area of Cardiff at about 5.25pm on Wednesday, January 26. The collision involved a car and a pedestrian.

A 62-year-old man was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries.

Since November 2021, roadworks have been carried out on the junction to create a new, wider pedestrian crossing as a result of a ten year old campaign.

The campaign was ran by a local mother of a teenage daughter with cerebral palsy, who wanted the junction to have a dropped kerb to help people like her daughter who use a wheelchair.
