Man in life-threatening condition after being found unconscious

A man is in a life-threatening condition in hospital after an incident in Maesteg on Sunday morning.

Police were called to an incident at an address in Maesteg, Bridgend at 9.20am on Sunday, February 6 following the discovery of an unconscious man. He has been taken to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff where his condition is described as life-threatening.

A South Wales Police statement said investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are continuing: "At 9.20 am this morning (Sunday, February 6) emergency services were called to an address in Maesteg following the discovery of an unconscious man. He has been taken to the University Hospital of Wales. His condition is described as life threatening. Investigations into the circumstance surrounding this incident are continuing."

A spokesperson from Welsh Air Ambulance said: "I can confirm that the Wales Air Ambulance Charity attended a medical emergency in the Maesteg area this morning. Our Dafen-based crew was mobile at 10.31am and arrived on scene at 10.44am.

"Following critical care treatment from our on board consultant and critical care practitioner, we escorted a patient to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff in a road ambulance. Our involvement concluded at 12.49pm."
