Man in hospital after Kilmarnock town centre weekend assault

Ayrshire police are carrying out enquiries after a man was assaulted at the weekend.

The 38-year-old was taken to Crosshouse Hospital following the incident in Kilmarnock town centre on Friday night and is continuing to receive treatment.

An investigation is underway to establish the circumstances of exactly what happened.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told Ayrshire Live: "Around 9.20 pm on Friday, April 8, police attended a report of a man assaulted in Sturrock Street, Kilmarnock.

"The 38-year-old injured man was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Crosshouse where he is currently being treated for his injuries.

"Police enquiries are ongoing."
