Man in hospital after being stabbed in chest

A man was stabbed in the chest in a violent assault.

Merseyside Police confirmed officers were called to Alexandra Road in Southport at around 4.25am on Saturday, August 6 to a report of an assault. When officers arrived they found a man with a stab wound to his chest and he was rushed to hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

Officers arrested a 33-year-old woman from Southport on suspicion of section 18 wounding. It was confirmed that she had since been bailed with conditions.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "A woman has been arrested in Southport after an assault on Saturday 6 August. At around 4.25am officers were called to a report of an assault on Alexandra Road.

"A man was taken to hospital with a stab wound to his chest where he remains in a stable condition. A 33-year-old woman from Southport was arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding and has since been bailed with conditions."
