Man in his 70s dies two days after crash

A man in his 70s has died two days after he was involved in a crash.

Officers were called to the incident on Wednesday, February 2 at about 12.55pm after a Vauxhall Mervia was involved in a crash with a Fiat 500 near the junction of Clay Brow Road and Carfield in Skelmersdale.

The driver of the Mervia, a man in his 70s from Skelmersdale, was taken to hospital but died two days later on Friday, February 4.

Police are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward, including if they have any CCTV or dashcam footage which could help them with their enquiries.

Sgt Martin Wilcock, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Very sadly the man involved in this collision died two days after he was admitted to hospital and I would appeal to anyone who saw the collision itself, or who has any CCTV or dashcam footage, to get in touch.”

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "We are appealing for witnesses after a man died following a collision. The incident happened at about 12.55pm on Wednesday, February 2 when a Vauxhall Meriva collided with a Fiat 500 near the junction of Clay Brow Road and Carfield in Skelmersdale.

"The driver of the Meriva, a man in his 70s from Skelmersdale, was taken to hospital but sadly died on February 4."

Anyone with information should call police on 101 quoting log 0606 of February 2.
