Man in his 40s seriously injured in city centre crash

A man suffered serious injuries when he was hit by a car after falling off his bike.

The cyclist, a man in his 40s, was travelling along Upper Duke Street near the Yuet Ben restaurant at around 7.45pm yesterday, February 23, when the incident occurred.

Two ambulances, three police cars and one police van attended the scene.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said: "Someone had issues with their bike which was then in collision with a car."

A North West Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called to report that a person had fallen of a bicycle at 19.46. A man in his 40s was taken to hospital with serious injuries."
