Man in his 30s seriously hurt after stabbing near East Croydon station

A man is in hospital with potentially life-changing injuries on Friday after being stabbed less than half a mile from where schoolgirl Elianne Andam was killed.

The victim, in his 30s, was attacked on College Road, Croydon at around 3.30am on Friday.

Parts of East Croydon train station remain behind a police cordon.

Officers had been called to reports of a man suffering knife injuries.

Police and London Ambulance Service attended and the man was taken to hospital for treatment.

His injuries have been described as not life threatening but potentially life-changing.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “A crime scene remains in place at the location and includes part of the access to East Croydon station.

“No arrests have been made and enquiries into the circumstances continue.”

Separately, a 17-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of 15-year-old Elianne who was stabbed to death on her way to school on Wednesday.

The teenager is appearing at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Friday over the death of Elianne who was wounded in the neck after getting off a bus on Wednesday morning in south London.

On Monday, a man, in his 20s, was stabbed on Barclay Road, near Croydon College at 2.30pm.
