The body of a man was found at Southport Pier this morning.
Police were called to the Pier at around 8.40am today after receiving reports that the body of a man in his 30s had been seen on Southport Pier
Officers are treating the death as "unexplained" and a report is being prepared for the Coroner’s Office. A scene was in place this morning with Marine Way Bridge closed in both directions.

A spokesperson Merseyside Police said: "Emergency services attended following a report that a man’s body had been found at Southport Promenade this morning, Monday 24 October. At around 8.40am we received a report that a body of a man in his 30s was found on Southport Pier and was sadly pronounced deceased.
"The man’s death is currently being treated as unexplained and a report is being prepared for the Coroner’s Office. A scene is currently in place and road closures are in place at the roundabout of Marine Drive and Marine Parade while officers remain in the area."
