A man in his 20s has died after a crash between a motorbike and an Audi.

Merseyside Police rushed to Boundary Street, at the junction of Regent Road in Vauxhall at around 6.28pm on Tuesday, September 6, following reports of a crash. Once at the scene officers found a motorbike and an Audi had crashed and requested assistance from the ambulance service.

The motorbike rider, a man in his 20s, was rushed to hospital after being seriously injured in the crash. He died in hospital a short time later and his next of kin have been informed.

The driver of the Audi and a passenger were taken to hospital with minor injuries and are assisting police with their investigation.

A cordon was put in place on Boundary Street, closing the road in both directions, with a section of Regent Street also taped off. In the middle of the cordon a green motorbike was laid in the middle of the road alongside a white plastic bag and other pieces of debris.

Police are asking drivers to avoid the area and find an alternative route.

Chief Inspector Colin Dyer said: “Our thoughts and condolences are with the family of the man who has sadly lost his life following a collision this evening. We have now launched an investigation into his death and his family have been informed.

"They are being supported by our specially trained liaison officers. I would also appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident to please contact us. Alternatively if you were driving in the vicinity I ask that you please check your dashcam footage that may have captured the incident and to also come forward.

“Every piece information is vitally important to our investigation to establish what happened.”

Anyone who witnessed the collision or captured anything on CCTV or dashcam is asked to contact SCIU on (0151) 777 5747, or email SCIU@merseyside.police.uk. Alternatively DM @MerPolCC or @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111, quoting reference 22000666138.
