Man in 'critical condition' after serious crash on Lanarkshire motorway

Police in Lanarkshire are appealing for information after a man was “seriously injured” in a road crash on the M80 yesterday.

The incident happened around 1.30pm on Saturday (February 5) between Castlecarey and Haggs.

Officers were called to a single vehicle road crash northbound on the motorway between J6A and J7, Haggs.

The 52-year-old male driver of the white Mitsubishi L200 Pick-up and his 47-year-old female passenger were to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

The man sustained a serious head injury. Medical staff describe his condition as critical - the woman is not believed to be seriously injured.

Sergeant Scott Kirkpatrick told Lanarkshire Live : “We would like to hear from any motorists who witnessed the crash or anyone who can assist with our investigation.

“If you have any information, in particular dash-cam footage, then please contact police immediately.”

The M80 northbound was closed from J5, Cumbernauld, for some time but has now reopened.

Anyone with any information in relation to the incident is asked to contact police on 101.

Information can be left anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
