Man in 'critical condition' after crash involving five vehicles in Cardiff

A man is in critical condition following a crash in Cardiff.

Officers were alerted to a collision involving five vehicles on Maindy Road, Cardiff, at 8.26pm on Sunday, February 6.

The man was taken to hospital where police say he is in "critical condition".

Fire crews from Cardiff Central and Whitchurch were also sent to the scene. The road remained closed for several hours while emergency services worked. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

Five vehicles were involved in the collision (WalesOnline)

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: "At 8.26pm yesterday, Sunday February 6, South Wales Police attended a road traffic collision at Maindy Road, Cardiff.

"The collision involved five cars. The male driver of one car remains in hospital in a critical condition.

"Enquiries are continuing."

A South Wales Fire and Rescue spokesperson added: "At approximately 8:26pm on Sunday the 6 th of February 2022, we received reports of a road traffic collision on Maindy Road in Cathays, Cardiff.

"Crews from Cardiff Central and Whitchurch Station attended the scene and worked alongside emergency service colleagues.

"A stop message was received at approximately 9:41pm."
