A man has appeared in court charged with murder after a woman died after being found seriously injured in Dunoon.
Emergency services were called to a block of flats on John Street in the town following what police described as a "disturbance" at around 1.25am on Saturday, July 23.
Mairi Doherty, 41, was found seriously injured and taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment. She passed away three days later on Tuesday, July 26.
Police charged a man and a woman in connection with the incident.
Kevin Campbell, 43, appeared in private at Greenock Sheriff Court on Tuesday charged with murder. He made no plea and was remanded in custody. His next appearance is yet to be confirmed.
Bernadette Cairns, 40, appeared at Greenock Sheriff Court last week charged with assault to injury. She made no plea and was committed for further examination and released on bail.
Her next appearance date is also yet to be confirmed.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 43-year-old man has been charged in connection with the death of a woman in Dunoon.
"Mairi Doherty, aged 41, from Dunoon, sustained serious injuries during a disturbance at flats in the John Street area of the town on Saturday, July 23.
"She was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where she died three days later.
"The man appeared at Greenock Sheriff Court on Tuesday, August 2."
