Man in 50s stabbed to death outside supermarket in Uxbridge

A man has been stabbed to death outside a supermarket in Uxbridge.

The victim, thought to be in his 50s, was found by police with a stab injury to his chest in The Greenway at 7pm on Wednesday.

A man in his 40s handed himself into a local police station shortly after and was arrested on suspicion of murder.

He remains in custody.

Pictures seen by The Standard show a man lying on the floor his shirt covered in blood.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “Police were called to reports of a stabbing at the junction of Cowley Road and The Greenway, Uxbridge.

“Officers attended along with London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance. A man, thought to be aged in his 50s, was found with a stab injury.

“Despite the efforts of emergency services, he died at the scene. His next of kin are yet to be informed.”

In Ilford, a man in his 20s was rushed to hospital after an assault in Ilford Lane at 6.30pm.

Police say they await an update on his condition and said there have been no arrests.
